Stephen Dixon | The Sleep of Reason

Manchester Art Gallery
November 2004

24 Approach:
Our overriding theme for the exhibition design was to create a space that portrayed the essence of Stephen's work in a subtle, concise manner. We consulted the artist and curators to select appropriate images that would provide the backdrop to the exhibits. We were keen to design a layout that would guide people around the gallery without forcing them around the space. We used a curved track with slats to provide our partitions. We designed the exhibition to be accessible for all; the layout carefully considered wheel chair users and people with visual impairment, and the presentation was designed to make the exhibition a visually stimulating and thought provoking experience for all visitors.
